GEOLOGY and HYDROGEOLOGY

Site planning, development, construction, and remediation are heavily influenced by site specific geologic conditions. Understanding the subsurface distribution of soil and rock, their engineering properties, and the complex interactions with groundwater and surface water is crucial to the success of any project.

CEC offers decades of experience interpreting geologic, geotechnical, hydrogeologic, and seismologic phenomena that affect our planning, development and land management activities. We provide expert advice for large and small projects beginning at the concept development stage and continuing through design and construction.

Our seismic specialist is an internationally recognized expert in the field, providing seismic risk analysis, dynamic response analyses, soil-structure interaction studies, site response spectra, earthquake preparedness, planning, and damage assessment. CEC is able to quantify the economic operation, and human impacts of seismic risks to structures, to business and commercial operations, and to lifeline services such as hospitals, telecommunications, water, fuel, and transportation systems.

Involving our professionals at the earliest possible stages of a project results in cost savings and development strategies that avoid future problems.
